Rehab game

Presentation

The ReHab game simulates the management of a natural resource and trade-off between conservation and livelihoods and tries to explore the importance of communication in that process.

To do so, the players are divided into two groups: The Harvesters and the Rangers. The playing field consists of several patches, each providing a certain amount of biomass. Additionally, some of the patches are home to an endangered bird species. While the Harvesters try to use the biomass in order to provide a livelihood for their clan, it’s the Rangers task to protect the bird.

The game can be played with the possibility of communication between the groups or without. This possibility gives us and the players an insight to the different dynamics unfolding with or without talking as well as the often quite different outcomes.
