Karbi game

This role playing game explores the problems arising from the transition to a more cash-oriented society. As People need more money because of education and health cost, they face the dilemma of how to allocate their labor:  For Food-Crops, Cash-Crops or work for others.

The game is set in a slash-and-burn area. The players represent a household and while they’re deciding on how to allocate their resources they also have to choose new patches to farm. Their decisions in turn influence a number of backlash factors, as wildlife destroying their patches.

The game was developed in collaboration with affected farmers in Karbi Anglong, a region in the North-East of India. More information about the region and the project can be found here.
